AMCON Takes Over Afrijet over N10bn Debt | Says About 400 Debtors owe Over N4.5tn

The  Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) , on Friday, took over the assets of Afrijet Airlines Ltd.  owned by Vitalis Ibe , over an unpaid debt of almost N10 billion. This is contained in a statement issued by  Jude Nwauzor , Head, Corporate Communications, AMCON, which was obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Lagos. The statement said the takeover was based on an interim injunction granted against the airline by  J ustice Chuka Obiozor  of the Federal High Court, Lagos Division. It said, “the obligor owes AMCON nearly N10 billion. AMCON purchased the Eligible Bank Assets (EBAs), sometime in 2011 from the defunct  FinBank  and Bank PHB . The order also affects Ibe’s Continental Aviation Services Ltd., AMCON has since appointed  Professor Gbolahan Elias  (SAN), as Receiver/Manager. “ The statement also said the receiver/manager at about 11AM on Friday simultaneously took possession of the assets of Ibe including  Afrijet Plaza , the corporate head offi

Ali Modu Sheriff Makarfi says embattled chairman created Boko Haram

This is coming after Sheriff accused the caretaker committee chairman of hiring Fulani herdsmen to stop him from entering the PDP secretariat. The chairman of the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caretaker committee,  Ahmed Makarfi  has accused the embattled party chairman,  Ali Modu Sheriff  of creating  Boko Haram. Makarfi said Sheriff is known everywhere as a violent person, that is why the police withdrew his orderlies. Burna Boy Singer calls Nigerian bloggers dummies

The singer, who is preparing for a concert in London, accused bloggers of not confirming the truth in their reports before disseminating them. Nigerian dancehall singer, Burna Boy, has taken a shot at Nigerian bloggers, referring to them as dummies in connection to reports on his baby mama saga. This was contained in an  Instagram  post on Friday, June 24, 2016. According to the singer, the bloggers who reported the story of his alleged baby mama,  Uju Stella , played themselves by not confirming if the story was true The post also included what looked like a pregnancy result posted from the account of Stella. Another comment in the Instagram screenshot, saw a post by Instablo9ja , confirming that Stella had lied about the pregnancy. The alleged baby mama, earlier made a comment on Instagram, threatening to report Burna Boy to the police for breaking the door to her apartment. Fayose Lawyer asks EFCC to present court order for freezing Governor’s account

Oloyede said this while speaking as a guest on a Channels TV program, Sunrise Daily. The debate about whether it was legal for the Ekiti state Governor,  Ayo Fayose’s  account to be blocked by the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)  is not going to end anytime soon. A lawyer,  John Oloyede  has called on the EFCC to publish the court order they used to effect the freezing of Fayose’s  Zenith bank  account. Oloyede said this while speaking as a guest on a  Channels TV  program,  Sunrise Daily. The Ekiti Governor’s bank account was blocked by the EFCC on Monday, June 20, 2016. The EFCC also claimed that funds in the Governor’s accounts were linked to the arms purchase scandal involving the former National Security Adviser (NSA),  Sambo Dasuki. A Professor of Law,  Frank Asogwa  at the  Enugu state University of Science and Technology (ESUT)  also  said the EFCC has the power to freeze the Governor’s account.

The Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) chairman, Comrade Oladipo, said the suspension of the strike will give room for more consultation. Ekiti state workers have called of their strike and entered into an agreement with the state government. Speaking to newsmen, the   Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) chairman,  Comrade Oladipo,  said the suspension of the strike will give room for more consultation. The industrial action was called off following the signing of a seven point resolution by the state government and the workers. Fayose had accused Mrs Buhari of participating in a 2009 bribery scandal involving US Congressman, William Jefferson. Ogun State Senator,  Buruji Kashamu  has urged Ekiti State Governor,  Ayo Fayose  to leave the  wife of the President , Aisha Buhari  alone and address the allegations levelled against him. Money Doublers Two men paraded in Kwara for attempting to dupe woman of N700,000

The suspects were apprehended after the victim raised an alarm concerning the fake promise. They were about to collect an additional sum of N500,000 from the woman. The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), have paraded two fraudsters in Kwara State, for attempting to dupe a businesswoman of the sum of N700,000. According to the  Daily Post , the suspects promised to double the money for the woman using a chemical. Pedro Awili , the state commandant of the NSCDC, said that the men first approached the woman telling her that they needed N100,000 to buy the chemical. King Sunny Ade Juju singer floats new radio station

The popular singer starts up a radio station in his hometown Ondo, which would be operating by the name M&C 106.5FM. Legendary Juju music  singer  Chief Sunday Adegeye popularly known as   King Sunny Ade (KSA)  has launched a radio station named  M&C radio  with frequency modulation 106.5. The popular singer floated the station in his hometown Ondo State. with Governor of Ondo state Segun Mimiko advising the management of the station to work together as one for the benefit of Ondo people. KSA tows the same line with another popular performer  Yinka Ayefele  who established  Fresh FM  in Ibadan about three years ago. Sunny Ade's station joins the likes of Adaba 88.9 FM (Akure), FUTA Radio 93.10 (Akure/FUTA), OSRC 96.5FM(Akure), and FRCN Ibadan Positive FM (102.50)(Akure) in occupying the airwaves and keeping  the company of listeners in the state.

Bianca Ojukwu’s Mother Passes on at 80

The death has been announced of Caroline Chinweolu Onoh  (Mmili-Aku; Nee Eke), the wife of former governor of old Anambra State, and mother of Nigeria’s immediate past Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain and Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UNWTO,  Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu . Born on 26th December 1935, Late Carol Onoh was the first child of  Anselm Eke , one of the first indigenous railway engineers and train operators in Nigeria.  She was the only child of her mother who passed away when she was barely 2 years old. She died on Tuesday at the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUTH), Park Lane, Enugu after a brief illness. She is survived by 6 Children:  Hon. G,B Onoh  (a two-time Commissioner and former Mayor of Enugu Municipal);  Alexandra Onoh  (Author);  Nwoga S. Anyanebechi;  Ambassadorial Nominee  Lilian Onoh;   Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu ;  and  Hon. Josef Onoh  {SSA (projects) to the Governor of Enugu State and former member of the Enugu Legislature}

The Asset Management Corporation Of Nigeria, AMCON, has gotten an order by a Federal High Court in Lagos, Nigeria to take over Ben Murray Bruce owned Silverbird Cinemas. According to a tweet by SaharaReporters, the court has granted AMCON an order to take over companies owned by 'common sense' legislator for owing N11bn. It was further reported that Senator Murray-Bruce and his business family members have defaulted in the repayment of N11b loan to AMCON, hence, the order by the court to take over the companies, which is led by the th Silverbird Cinemas.
