Disgraceful 'Accidental discharge' from soldier kills policeman

A soldier who tried to scare away officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, LASTMA, for attempting to tow a military truck has misfired, killing a police officer in the area in the process, Vanguard reports.
The incident, which occured between Idiroko and Anthony Bus-Stop, Lagos, left eyewitnesses running for cover.
It was gathered that the soldier was detailed to convey the white and yellow military truck belonging to the Nigerian Army, to Kaduna.
On his way, the truck broke down at Idiroko bus stop, and he decided to sleep inside till dawn.
Some LASTMA officials decided to tow it to their office.
However, trouble started when the officials knocked at the driver’s side.
Immediately, the soldier was said to have got down from the truck with his rifle and started shooting indiscriminately into the air and at the LASTMA officials.
It remains unclear what he was dreaming about that led him to react like that. What is clear is that his poor decision making has led to the death of a police officer.
