Why mother stabbed her own 7-yr-old son

Shocking revelations have surfaced as regards the woman who stabbed her son with bottle.
Promise, 7, had been stabbed for allegedly defiling his two-year-old step-sister and the daughter of a neighbour, Punch reports.
The incident happened on Monday on Tunde Olusola Street, in the Ijaiye-Ojokoro area of Lagos.
It was revealed that while the mother was away, Promise went to visit the five-year-old neighbour’s daughter at her parents’ apartment. He was said to have met Dupe (pseudonym) alone and took her to his mother’s room.
On getting to the room, he reportedly told her to remove her clothes and lie down. It was said that he slept on top of the girl and fiddled with her private parts.
Dupe’s mother had left her with her sister, who was said to have left home when the incident happened.
Dupe narrated what transpired between her and Promise to her mother when she came back.
A neighbour, who only agreed to speak on the condition of anonymity, said that Yemi’s mother invited Promise to her apartment and verified the story in the presence of her daughter.
She said, “Initially, he denied. But when the woman assured him that she would not tell his mother, he opened up and said it was true. He said he had been doing it with his step-sister too. The woman later reported Promise to his mother and he confessed to her as well.”
She first beat him with a stick on Monday for the offence. But all of a sudden, she smashed a bottle and stabbed him in the back.”
A resident, Bose Komolafe, said the mother had been arrested by the police from the Ijaiye-Ojokoro Police Division, while Promise had been admitted to a hospital in the area.
She said, “Some neighbours rushed to rescue the child from her. He is on admission at a hospital. Whatever the child might have done wrong, such a move was too harsh.”
The apartment Promise lived in with his mother, Fred, is currently under lock and key.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident.
He said, “Fred stabbed her son on the back for allegedly touching the vagina of his two-year-old sister. She has been apprehended. The victim is currently receiving treatment at a hospital. The neighbour’s daughter case was not reported to us.”

Patience Jonathan was arrogant as first lady –Ex-US ambassador

A former United States Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell, has described former President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife, Patience, as being arrogant and flamboyant when she was Nigeria’s first lady. In a piece he wrote on Friday, ‘Nigerian President Buhari’s Sisyphean Efforts’, and posted on Council on Foreign Relations’ website, Campbell also wondered how Jonathan’s wife became wealthy having spent most of her life as a civil servant The ex-US envoy stated, “Patience Jonathan as the first lady was flamboyant, arrogant, and widely disliked. She has yet to be convicted of a crime. However, it is curious how a person who spent most of her career in public service could accumulate an acknowledged $35 million in a poor country.” The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is currently investigating Jonathan’s wife and has frozen four bank accounts belonging to her, while some property belonging to her have been seized. Aftermath of gas explosion in Accra leaves 6 people dead.

At least six persons were killed and 35 injured, mostly suffering burns, after an explosion at a natural gas depot in Accra,  Ghana’s capital, fire service spokesman Billy Anaglate said on Sunday. The explosion on Saturday evening at the state-owned GOIL liquefied natural gas station sent a giant fireball into the sky above the eastern part of Accra, causing frightened residents to flee their homes in large numbers. Others were forcibly evacuated. Ghana, a relatively new oil and gas producer, has suffered several recent accidents including an explosion in 2015 that killed around 100 people. Several onlookers at the scene of the explosion expressed anger on Sunday that the government had not done more to prevent another fatal accident.
